Milwaukee’s stalwart noise-rockers, IfIHadAHiFi are turning ten. Most ten year-olds go through the gawky, too many (and too big) teeth/stringbean deal, but somehow the boys of HiFi have managed to skirt around all this with taunting glances. The above video for their Fame by Proxy track “Defenestrate Me” is an irksome display of crushing noise, squeaking feedback and vocal shouting matches…kind of perfect for a ten year-old, but more poised than the norm.
Tonight, IfIHadAHiFi throw themselves a birthday bash at Bay View’s Cactus Club, complete with musical comaraderie from White Problems, Waxeater and Bear Claw. This probably won’t be your typical ten year-old’s birthday bash, but for the older ‘kids’ in attendance, that’s probably more than okay.
