This very special WMSE 30th birthday week of Local/Live features the always-entertaining and ever-impressive Couch Flambeau. This legendary Milwaukee trio was formed in 1980, one year before WMSE, so these guys know us and love us like a bunch of older brothers. They even give us nougies, sometimes, which is pretty cool, since they’ve shared the stage with The Replacements, Butthole Surfers, The Damned and Big Black. We’ll take a nougie. We’re honored, for Couch Flambeau pretty much has the funniest, most Milwaukee-centric songs in its collective history: ” You Must Be From Cudahy”, “Hwy 100″, “The Zoo is Cool” and “Rockhaus” are just as hilarious for non-Milwaukeeans, and classics like “We’ll Go Through the Windshield Together”, “I Know Where You Live” and “Moving Solves Everything”, when paired with Jay Tiller’s personality-filled vocals, make for a never-ending source of sideways humor. It’s a treat for us to present Couch Flambeau this Tuesday at 8 p.m. on WMSE’s Local/Live. Tune in at 91.7 FM on your radio dial, or stream, live at WMSE.org. Missed out? Catch the performance in the WMSE archives.
