Our first experience with Wasted Islands was listening to the EP they sent us. It was on in the backgrounds while at work when “White Flowers” came on. It’s an epic and slow-building, post-rock, shoegaze track that climaxes in a way not unlike Archers of Loaf’s “Acromegaly”. Any Archers of Loaf comparison is probably inherantly unfair, but in “White Flowers” we heard promise. It’s not a perfect song, but it portends future songs that might be. The production isn’t the best, but for this song it doesn’t need to be. We really enjoy Wasted Islands’ music (which is why we invited them down), but more than anything, we can’t wait to see how they develop. Tune in this Tuesday at 8 p.m. to join us in the evolutioin of Wasted Islands. WMSE.org or 91.7 FM on your radio dial.
