Milwaukee’s Awkward Terrible has a collaborative split with The Glowing Stars called Horchata, and it’s definitely a fittingĀ name for the musical concoction — the four songs are cool and plenty sweet, AT’s trademark Saturday Morning Cartoon tempos layered and layered with synth sounds and loops that blend nicely with the blissed out blips and hyper-speed vocals from the Glowing Stars. Sounds compliments of Gameboys add an even more jaunty touch of a clearly carefree attitude. The bands write of the collaboration, “Two super groups decided to come together to form one of the most out of control split ever released in Chiprock history”. What’s ‘chiprock’, you might ask? Maybe don’t ask. The name should explain itself upon mere listen, and two ways one can dive into this computer-esque audio: listen to Horchata, here, or visit the Borg Ward (823 W. National) this Friday for a live experience with Awkward Terrible as they play with locals Coo Woo, Stereo Ghost and Madison’s Pale Girls.
