Kickstarter is certainly the coach in the corner of a lot of projects and causes and WMSE is especially devoted and empathetic to the cause of the local musician. For this reason, we’re choosing to highlight some of those local music Kickstarters and give an added awareness to what’s on the timer.
While the fine folks of Rock N Roller Remote Controller aren’t a band, per se, they put four bands into each episode they create — three local and one national. With four episodes to their credit, bands such as Drugs Dragons, Thomas Function, Jaill, Elephant Walk, The Terrible Twos, The Sugar Stems, The Hussy have all appeared in various episodes, which you can view here.
According to the creators, “Rock N Roller Remote Controller began in 2009 as a final project in a video production class at the Milwaukee Area Technical College (MATC). Students Karen Deau and Cole Juntila had the opportunity to make a half hour long show about whatever subject they wanted, which would then be broadcast on Milwaukee Public Television (a PBS affiliate). The original concept simply involved our host, Tabman, introducing bands and their music videos. As production developed, this concept grew beyond a hosted video showcase, and morphed into a scripted comedy adventure with the music videos intertwining with the plot.”
To find out more about RRRC, listen to bands featured on past RRRC episodes (plans for the new episode to feature Trent Fox and the Tenants, Uh-Oh!, Static Eyes and Big Eyes) and give a Kickstarter kick for Episode 5 (and watch the preview for it), visit the site — this project will only be funded if the goal is met by Saturday, June 16th.
