Yep. Summerfest isn’t technically until a week from now, but here at WMSE, we’re already prepping for that day (Wednesday, June 27th) like nobody’s business, for we’ll be broadcasting live during the day straight from the grounds, right from the heart of the Cascio Interstate Groove Stage (sponsored by WMSE and The Onion’s A.V. Club Milwaukee), introducing local acts such as Midnight Reruns, Hot Coffin, Canyons of Static, The Hollowz, Revomatics and the Jeanna Salzer Trio, among many, many more. For now, we’ll just sling you the first week’s Cascio headliners and give you a little insider scoop on where to find a couple of these bands playing this coming weekend. See you on the grounds!
Wednesday, June 27: Coo Woo
Thursday, June 28: Boy Blue
Friday, June 29: Collections of Colonies of Bees
Saturday, June 30: I’m Not a Pilot
Sunday, July 1: Midwest Death Rattle
Monday, July 2: DJ Tarik aka The Architect
Tuesday, July 3: Sat. Nite Duets
As mentioned, one of those bands, Midwest Death Rattle (alongside fellow Cascio stage opener Faux Fir), not only plays Summerfest, they’re also prepping local show goers for their upcoming gig at the Big Gig in a non-outdoor spot. The band plays Cactus Club this Saturday (again) with Faux Fir and Into Arcadia. Being new on the scene, the band introduces themselves: “After six solid years of dedication, problem solving and science, Midwest Death Rattle was formed in early 2012 by five Midwestern individuals. Focused on catchy melodies backed up with technical skill and a side of kick butt, MDR promises to pinpoint and hit all of your dry, thirsty musical tastebuds. Individual member influences run the spectrum of music genres, creating a complex yet coherent overall sound.” Ready? Set?
