Since 2004, siblings Jon and Jason Sunde and friend Jesse Edgington have found inspiration in writing together as The Daredevil Christopher Wright, their intimate songs full of as much depth of lyricism and composition as the first huge blanket of snow for the year. Appropriately, the band hails from Wisconsin, where a bittersweet quality generally tends to permeate the music (is it really the climate? probably.) And though the Eau Claire trio may write music described as “folk” at its simplest, The Nature Of Things (the band’s newest) sees their sound ripening into something sweeter and more complex, with lyrics built around betrayal, blind hope and unadorned human nature. It’s an album for summer, full of breath and light, working its way away from the darkest days of the year.
Listen in on the band’s newest songs as they stop by WMSE to play an acoustic set on the Local Lunchbox for Bill’s Armed Fauxes radio show today at 1 p.m. CST and listen to a live song, below. WMSE.org or 91.7 FM on your radio dial.
