Elusive. Some musicians are just that by nature (CocoRosie, Prince, Captain Beefheart…you name it). That elusive quality naturally generates from the unfamiliarity of a first introduction; it’s up to the band where to take it from there. Local duo Castle Thunder are currently in elusive territory merely based on their newbie-ness, freshly-created months ago by Cory Gorman (guitar, vocals, keys) and Christopher Christen (bass) — so new in fact, that although the band has the requisite MySpace page, they have no recorded songs to share, therefore leaving listeners completely in the darkest depths of audio…until tonight.
Castle Thunder will perform live tonight on WMSE in anticipation of their upcoming WMSE Radio Summer Camp show with Milwaukee’s instrumental wizards, Collections of Colonies of Bees and atmospheric rockers All Tiny Creatures. Does Castle Thunder sound anything like their show counterparts? Only the tuning into 91.7 FM WMSE tonight at 8 p.m. for Local/Live will tell…if you miss out, catch ’em in the WMSE archives, or simply go to the show on Friday. Make audio elusivity a reality.
Castle Thunder opens for All Tiny Creatures and Collections of Colonies of Bees this Friday, July 16th at the Cactus Club (2496 S. Wentworth). 9 p.m. 21+
