Man, has it been a busy one at WMSE, but we always have a little time to tell you what’s going on with some of our local musical compadres. And it’s never too late to plan out an evening of local music as tonight is an exciting one, as it marks the both beginnings and endings for a couple Milwaukee bands: Burning Sons, the new hardcore quartet featuring Speedfreaks’ Daniel DuChaine and Carl Steinhagen and Dillon Hallen (of Cry Coyote) on vocals, is proudly presenting their first release tonight at Monkey Bar (1619 S. 1st) at 9 p.m. Together for just mere months, the band has already landed a 7″ deal with famed SoCal label Mystic Records. Read all the details in this article from A.V. Club Milwaukee. The new release, Masquerade is hard-hitting with plenty of snap. Expect plenty more of the same from Burning Sons’s live performance.
The goodbye this evening comes in the form of a farewell show for Milwaukee’s dige-core rock ensemble Dear Astronaut. The house band for local art/music collective, the Borg Ward, has five years in running and will be saying a proper goodbye by re-releasing their tape, Escape From Rainbow Mountain at the Cactus Club (2496 S. Wentworth). Dear Astronaut welcomes musician friends Truthdealer, King’s Horses and Naked Ghosts to the stage for a 9:30 p.m. show.
