BUSY. That’s one good word to describe the environs of WMSE lately, but busy equals great in this case. We’ve been hauling it to put out some of the best music into the hands of our DJs to play so you can hear it over the airwaves. Personal favorites this week in the mail are the new Vaselines 7″ (“Sex With An X” / “Roaster”), Les Savy Fav’s Root for Ruin, Justin Townes Earle’s Harlem River Blues and Males by The Intelligence. On the local side of things, 1956 just passed along their new album, Low Tide, Fahri stopped by earlier this week with their forthcoming album Perfect Present, and Sub Pop sent us Jaill’s That’s How We Burn on vinyl yesterday. Nice! Listening to all this and more has us pretty excited to dive into new music news, as well, and it’s always cool when a WMSE listener tips us off.
In our inbox today was a link to a post on Magnet Magazine’s web site, featuring local band The Goodnight Loving, who divulged some of their favorite and most influential artists, including Milwaukee’s own Head On Electric (who recently performed on WMSE’s Local/Live). From Gene Pitney to Thin Lizzy, the boys in the Goodnight Loving let onto what’s been humming in their ears lately besides their own release, The Goodnight Loving Supper Club, out last month on Dirtnap Records. Check out their list and the article, *here*. Lots of old-school rockers and plenty of current gems to make for a good listen. Happy Thursday and keep digging the new music.
