It’s a a sure sign of summer’s end in Milwaukee when festival season starts its wrap-up and one of downtown’s mainstays, Jazz in the Park, presents the final performances of its 20th season. Cathedral Square Park gets a bit breezier, a bit more leaf-laden, and coordinators are already turning to thoughts of next season — we’re excited to see what will turn up in 2011. The past season was beyond excellent, featuring music from nationals such as The Bad Plus and Bonerama and locals such as Jamie Breiwick and Choir Fight. Tonight, catch the second-to-last Jazz in the Park and listen to local latin jazz and salsa music from Milwaukee’s Nabori (with The Tempters slated for September 23rd).
Nabori is an award-winning band, being recently recognized as the area’s best world beat group with their classic salsa sound lightened and brightened with upbeat tempos and forged with plenty of energy and creativity. Their original compositions sing with a distinct Milwaukee voice, bringing to light a Latin sound that is uniquely Midwestern. Check out a recent performance from Nabori in the video above and check the band out tonight at Cathedral Square Park as they play a 6 p.m. show. Cathedral Square Park is located at Jackson and Wells streets in downtown Milwaukee.
