Tonight On Local/Live: S.S. Web

S.S. Web

S.S. Web — Henry Berger (guitar/vox), Davey Schuster (mandolin), Bryan Halliday (bass) and Kyle Davis (drums) — hone in on whiskey-drinking country songs that clearly show their influences of Johnny Cash, Mason Jennings and the like. Songs such as “Father” and “Drag Me Straight to Hell” vary between sad storytelling with swagger to lively foot-stompers reminiscent of fellow Milwaukee musical rabble rousers, the .357 String Band and Cry Coyote. S.S. Web is good proof that Milwaukee musicians hit the bottle a bit harder than most, but make it sound like the best party, ever. And you’re invited. Listen to S.S. Web live as they play tonight’s  Local/Live at 8 p.m. Tune your radio dial to 91.7 FM or stream online at WMSE.org. Missed out? Catch the performance in the WMSE archives.
