In the Studio: Sat. Nite Duets

Sat. Nite Duets

January just ain’t what it used to be. But that’s a fact that’s definitely landing on the ‘okay’ side of things.  Doldrums? What doldrums? There are musical mood picker-uppers aplenty to be had this weekend and as  WMSE Promotions Director Ryan Schleicher tipped us off today in the WMSE eNewsletter some pretty awesome stuff is headed right your way if you are a Milwaukeean or close-ish resident.

If you a fan of all things indie rock, definitely include Friday’s Cactus Club (2496 S. Wentworth) show on your list of things to consider. Locals Sat. Nite Duets (along with Golden Coins and Blessed Feathers), will be performing for part one of the Muzzle of Bees 6th Anniversary showcase (9 p.m.) and the press is comparing them to the Silver Jews and Pavement (not bad, right?). Catch a rare, live performance (and on a Friday, even, not a Saturday) from the band whose EP has just began to get some very warm attention for their delightfully ramshackle sound.

Not easily convinced that a proper Pavement protege exists? Have a listen for yourself to two tracks from the band’s One Nite Only EP, below. Like what you hear and want to hear more? Listen to Sat. Nite Duets perform live on WMSE tomorrow (Friday, 1/14/10)  at about 2:15 p.m., CST. Tune in at 91.7 FM on your radio dial or stream, live at WMSE.org.

“Peel Away”
