The always on the move Seth Bogart of San Francisco’s Hunx & His Punx could easily run for a role as international man of mystery if he didn’t make himself so quite so visible with his debauchery-flavored rock ‘n roll . Along with his Punx, Bogart’s seemingly coy and innocent music — with its Shangri-Las-like nostalgia — dishes out the bittersweet lyricism to bring a satisfying sense of reality. “The Curse of Being Love” has Punx vocalist/bassist Shannon Shaw bemoaning the age-old and age-centric problems of scores of youth, but does so with plenty of pluck. “I’m young…so what?” she croons alongside Hunx.
Luckily for [one of] the youth (or non-youth) who plan to go see Hunx & His Punx at The Cactus Club [2496 S. Wentworth] this Saturday, life will be a little bit cheaper, even if problematic. Hunx wants to give one of you a spot on his guest list — simply email wolf (at) msoe (dot) edu with “I want to see Hunx & His Punx” in the subject line — first one to do so wins!
