WMSE Song of the Day (Tune In Turn Up): Kids On a Crime Spree “Trumpets Of Death”

Kids On a Crime Spree

Slumberland Records latest reverb junkies, Kids On a Crime Spree,  hail from Oakland California, but band leader Mario Hernandez traveled to NYC to gain inspiration for his Phil Spector-meets-Ramones inspired release We Love You So Bad. Inspired to the most obsessive degree by a chance listen to Back to Mono, a box set of Spector’s greatest recordings, Hernandez has succeeded in creating a similar dark pop sound, with city grime and grit blown over an inner glow from the band’s stake in coastal California.
