WMSE Song of the Day (Tune In Turn Up): The Sea and Cake “Covers”

The Sea and Cake

Chicago’s The Sea and Cake is known for an engaging style of jazz-infused pop/rock that is the ultimate headphones music and the band is currently heralding their ninth headphones-suited release The Moonlight Butterfly [Thrill Jockey]. Even after album number nine, the quartet has managed to gracefully handle the age-old conundrum that might face a band strong on years by being simply honest to the original Sea and Cake sound band leaders Sam Prekop and Archer Prewitt confidently and uniquely helmed in the 90’s. Check out the first track, below.

The Sea and Cake performs at The Turner Hall Ballroom [1034 N. 4th] tonight at 8 p.m.
