Recent New York to Milwaukee transplants Cages fit in beautifully with Milwaukee’s solid noise/experimental music scene, the duo of Nola Ranallo and David Bailey pummeling and beautifying desolate soundscapes scraped with guitar chords, feedback and noise and glinted with Ranallo’s expressively haunting vocals. Generated in 2004, Ranallo’s project thrived on the anti-structure element she initiated, using emotion as the hook for her songs, eventually adding Bailey to give Cages an even more realized sound. Find the duo on Cold Spring Records and on WMSE’s Local/Live program tonight at 8 p.m. CST. Tune in at 91.7 FM on your radio dial or stream online at WMSE.org. Missed out?
