“Punk rock pioneer” Jon Langford will be in town today, toting his well-known and delightfully depthy blend of music that visits folk, punk, and country all in one go. The Chicago resident and Bloodshot Records longtimer arrives to Milwaukee with fresh news of a new/old release, 1998’s Skull Orchard. Langford’s Skull Orchard has had many of its recordings cloaked in unattainability for quite some time, but now those elusive songs will be available with bonus tracks — eighteen in all, featuring the Burlington Welsh Male Chorus. Langford, also known for his fantastic skills as an artist, illustrated his lyrics for Skull Orchard in a set of ‘song paintings’. Skull Orchard Revisited is a total treat. Tune into 91.7 FM WMSE today at 1:30 p.m. CST for another treat: hear a live set and interview with Langford alongside Walter Salas-Humara on WMSE, then head to Club Garibaldi’s tonight to check out a live set with The Silos.
