WMSE Song of the Day (Tune In Turn Up) 400 Blows “Let the Lightning Strike”

Today’s SOTD comes compliments of KXLU 88.9 FM in Los Angeles, where punk/ noise rock band 400 Blows performed a live set in advent of some new music (check out the above video for “Let the Lightning Strike”, above). 400 Blows’ brand new album, Sickness and Health, is just as pummeling as ever, Skot Alexander, Kevin Fitzgerald and Scott Martin doing a swell job of blowing apart whatever they musically assembled together. The A.V. Club says, “As with previous 400 Blows releases, Sickness is rooted in Scott Martin’s contorted riffage. It’s no wonder the guitarist was recently tapped to beef up Big Business; throughout Sickness, Martin overcomes 400 Blows’ lack of bass guitar with a scultped tangle of distorted sludge and metallic brutality.”
