WMSE Song of the Day (Tune In Turn Up): Blitz the Ambassador “Best I Can”

Blitz the Ambassador puts forth more than simple skill and eloquence in his fusion-fueled African hip hop; his natural energy and will to be the ambassador that his name gives him, has magnetized Blitz to youth everywhere in search of  more than what’s catchy or popular. Blitz shrugs those two unnecessary tactics off and his  latest release Native Sun is all the more  impressive.  Born in Ghana and transplanted to the United States to attend college, Blitz made short work of lining himself up with the likes of Shad and Les Nubians and hooking listeners in with his smart lyrical sense. Hear/see for yourself, with “Best I Can” (above). Blitz the Ambassador will be performing for 2011’s Global Union (courtesy of Alverno Presents) at Bay View’s Humboldt Park on Sunday, September 18th at 4 p.m. Want to hear more from Blitz before you head out to see him live? Stream Native Sun in its entirety, here.
