Tonight on Local/Live: Rust Belt Demons

Nowadays when a band claims to play “punk” music, we want to force-feed them The Decline of Western Civilization for twenty-four hours straight, then ask, “Now, are you sure you want to claim that you play punk rock?” We’re pretty sure that 95% of the time said band would change their story.

That’s not the case with Rust Belt Demons, though. The Racine outfit stays pretty true to the subjects of Western Civilization with nods to Black Flag and Circle Jerks while employing the more melodic punk rock stylings of The Ramones and later keepers of the flame, Bad Religion (did we just use the word “stylings” while writing about punk rock?). It’s harder and hard to find genuine pock rock these days. Tune into WMSE’s Local/Live tonight at 8 p.m. for a band that’s actually doing it. 91.7 FM on your radio dial, or stream live or in the archives at WMSE.org.
