A Trip to Bandcamp With: Iron Cages

Milwaukee doom-tinged hardcore  four-piece Iron Cages’ new EP is for those who like music so muscular it literally prowls around the confines of its own song structure. Built up from bands Expire and Harms’ Way, Iron Cages members Nick Gauthier, Marcus Boldt, Chris Mills and Dustin Ciborosky have created a definite local masterpiece in terms of hardcore and the Midwest, pinpointing our own particular brand of winter gloom in “Desolation”: “I stopped feeling sunlight on the backs of my arms / started thinking too much about dying under the same Midwest stars / I don’t feel anything in the dead cold of the night / I’d give anything to stay asleep until the end of time.Listen to their ‘Demos’ EP on their Bandcamp page, and see them live at Milwaukee’s Cactus Club on Saturday February 25th for a show with Moon Curse and Protestant.
