Today in the WMSE Studios: Little Barrie

A touring opening gig for Charles Bradley is a pretty sweet deal, indeed, and the U.K.’s Little Barrie should feel proud of their primo slot with the “Screaming Eagle Of Soul” (that’s Bradley, in case you’re unfamiliar). From the sound of it, Little Barrie is more than capable of fitting the bill and then some. “In these days of Perrier-drinking Gym Bunnies, rock ‘n’ rollers like Little Barrie are a cherishable and endangered species.” Stewart Maconie of Radio Times says of the trio who are already well-known back home and just beginning to break ground here with their current tour for brand-new album King of the Waves on Tummy Touch Records. Check out the video for “Surf Hell’, below, with its straight-up 60’s surf/garage feel and tune into 91.7 FM WMSE today at 2 p.m. on Andy Turner’s Zero Hour for a live, in-studio performance before the band plays Turner Hall Ballroom tonight for an 8 p.m. show with Charles Bradley & His Extraordinaires.
