Tune into WMSE today at 1 p.m. on Dori’s Girlina show to get an inside scoop on a very cool project that local hip hop emcee Melissa Czarnik has recently undertaken. Czarnik, well-known for her solid and soulful releases, Strawberry Cadillac and Raspberry Jesus, is setting her sights on France for the inspiration and space needed to piece together her new tunes. In a recent interview with WUWM’s Lake Effect, Czarnik said, “each time I go there [France] it really feeds this creative energy inside of me and I go there and I just want to write.” For this reason, Czarnik is seeking support to take up a residency for which she already has been accepted into at the Camac Centre D’Art, one hour south of Paris. Today, Czarnik will talk to Dori about her project, the album to come from it and her additional plans starting to stem from it all. Listen in at 1 p.m. at WMSE.org or 91.7 FM on your radio dial Also keep your eyes peeled for an interview feature in the very near future on Sonic Diet detailing the project’s progress.
