What We’re Sponsoring This Weekend: Doomtree at Turner Hall Ballroom

Minneapolis-based hip hop collective Doomtree’s release No Kings is as big and bold as the parts that make up the collective — equally hard-hitting as it is soulful and melodious, No Kings easily leaves a lasting sonic impression. Each separate artist (Dessa, P.O.S., Lazerbeak, Cecil Otter, etc.) is very well known outside of their encompassing tag, and we can’t imagine the energized inspiration that will be contained in the ballroom of Turner Hall this Saturday when they all take the stage. A recent review from Easy Street Records of Doomtree’s show at Seattle’s The Crocodile says, “Throughout the night, the emcees weaved their microphone cords across the stage as they took turns addressing the sold-out crowd with rapid-fire rhymes that electrified everyone in the house. At multiple times during their set, a few of the guys ended up in the middle of the crowd, jumping up and down in unison.” We can’t wait. Check out a video for “Bangarang” off of No Kings, below and check back in on this past week’s Mad Kids show for an interview with Dessa. Doomtree visits Milwaukee’s Turner Hall Ballroom Saturday, February 25th for an 8 p.m. show.
