“Lisa Ridgely and The Fainting Room’s “Wine In Bed” showcases infectious pop melodies with darker undertones rooted in a feminine perspective. The album should please the palates of those who enjoy tight harmonies, searing guitar solos and songs about nicknamed ovaries.”
That’s straight from Lisa’s press release and we’re pretty sure this is the first instance in which a Local/Live band copy references ovaries. But with good reason, “… [Ridgely continued to experiment with songwriting for a decade until an ovary-related health scare inspired her to face her fear of public performance.” Ridgely’s music takes you a lot of places, and that she can use humor to reflect on a serious life issue makes her songwriting that much more powerful.
Lisa Ridgely and the Fainting Room release Wine in Bed at Club Garibaldi’s this Friday, May 4th. Tune into WMSE’s Local/Live tonight at 8 p.m. to hear the new tunes — 91.7 FM on your radio dial or WMSE.org to stream live or in the archives.
