It’s All Classic Country for The Chicken Shack’s Big 1-5

If you’re tuned into WMSE right now, you’re probably right in the middle of a huge wallop of classic country tunes from Jonny Z and Good John, who are celebrating the fifteenth anniversary of WMSE’s Chicken Shack in proper style (wasn’t hearing “Phantom 309” by Red Sovine pretty great?).

That tune (and the rest) was pulled from the amazing and generously donated classic country collection by Kris Kristainsand, and as Ryan wrote in WMSE’s weekly e-newsletter, “the collection was donated to WMSE and contains an insane amount of true gems from the golden era of country/western music. You may hear other radio stations around town claiming to play the best of classic country (we’re looking at you AM 920 The Wolf), but true, genuine, classic country on vinyl? Only from the WMSE Studio A in downtown Milwaukee will you really get what is advertised.” ’nuff said. Tune on in until noon today and let us bring your ears down home to more of those sweet classic sounds.
