Tonight on Local/Live: Painted Caves

Painted Caves is primitive music for modern machines. Established by Ali Lubbad, a California/Wisconsinite of Palestinian descent, Painted Caves was conceived after a near-death experience which left Ali partially paralyzed and nearly unable to speak. In the flooded caverns of this despair there appeared a hopeful, healing power, onto which Ali held fast and floated buoyantly through and out of the glorious and terrible caves. After years of failed attempts to explain rationally, what he had seen and experienced while lost in the darkness of the caves, Ali instead turned to music to relate the fantastic tale of his journey into, through, and ultimately out of the painted caves. Ali is joined by a rotating cast of musicians to help relate this tale including: Mike Kashou,  Julio Pabon, Ali Amr, Paul Cebar, Sandy Weisto, Holly Wake, Reggie Bordeaux, Carl Nichols, Dave Wake, and Wade Fernandez.
