The Pharmacy’s newest Stoned & Alone is some of the brightest-sounding scuzzy rock they’ve put out to date, veering more to the side of straight-up psych pop. Frenetic and oddball instrumentation (piano and strings) brings a slight chamber-y angle to a band that has, in the past, seemed like it wouldn’t be into trying that hard (despite tireless touring). Effortless pull-offs of these instruments and soaring sounds give enough grit and weirdness to the band’s music, energizing with a spirited swagger. Check out the album on their Bandcamp page (click the album title, above) and also peek at a video for “Dig Your Grave”, below. The Pharmacy makes an appearance at Riverwest Public House tonight for a 9pm/21+ show with Milwaukee’s The Delphines and Fjords. Tune into WMSE today for a 2:30pm on-air interview on the Richard Nice Show to get details — 91.7 FM / WMSE.org.
