Tune into WMSE at 12:30 today for an interview with Milwaukee’s Sugar Stems, who are set to be the next musical guests for UWM’s Peck School of the Arts’ ‘MKE Unplugged’ music series this coming Thursday, February 21st. The Stems will be going acoustic for their UWM session and you have the option to check them out, in-person at UWM (2419 E. Kenwood Blvd., 8pm) or listen in, live, on WMSE (we will be broadcasting MKE Unplugged live on the airwaves). The band’s latest release, Can’t Wait, is their signature sunny sound, but has a bit of bite lurking in those sunny spaces. Expect to hear some of that this Thursday and watch the new video for “Make Up Your Mind Below” to get an audio peek.
Today also welcomes a new EP (Two Travelers) from former-Milwaukeean collaborators (via Brooklyn and Kenya), Eric & Magill. The EP is a prelude to a full-length due out later in the year and features Milwaukee musicians such as Heidi Spencer, Cory Gorman, Keith Stendler, Ryan Rupprecht and Rob Hickey, who contributed bits via the Internet. Listen here at the band’s Bandcamp page. Eric & Magill again proves to be a project that shows that space knows no bounds. Tune into WMSE at 1pm today to hear news on that new EP from Ryan Weber, one half of Eric & Magill.
