Andrew James Shelp of Moss Folk plays hypnotically trance-y music in one of the many veins of the psych genre. Droned guitars, subtle changes and atmospheric buzzing all help create a cocoon of haze. Shelp recognizes that droned guitars are not the only formula to his favorite genre of music, and wanting to showcase some of the best bands of that genre in his own city and elsewhere, has put together a two-day festival set to take place this weekend in Milwaukee — Milwaukee Psych Fest. Three shows will take place on Friday, April 19th and Saturday, April 20th: two evening and one afternoon, with bands such as The Warlocks, Secret Colours, Catacombz and Elusive Parallelograms taking the Cactus Club’s stage throughout. Moss Folk plays the festival opening night. For complete lineup and ticket info, visit the Cactus Club’s page and to get a listen at the music of Moss Folk and info from Milwaukee Psych Fest creator, Shelp, tune into WMSE’s Local/Live tonight at 8pm — 91.7 FM on your radio dial or stream live (or in the archives) at WMSE.org.
