Today on WMSE: an interview with Doors’ Drummer John Densmore

The Doors were a pivotal band of the 1960s, legendary enough to easily be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame (1993) and also be a perfect band to document/grab a solid plot for a movie (1991), with lead singer Jim Morrison’s volatile stage presence and life away from the stage being an arresting focal point (and also the vehicle behind his untimely death).

Doors’ drummer John Densmore saw it all and provided a detailed account in 1990’s Riders On the Storm, but recently felt compelled to complete the account. Fueled by the band’s demise from the “greed gene”, Densmore’s focus in his newest book, The Doors: Unhinged covers new territory. Densmore will be at Greenfield’s Exclusive Company this Sunday, August 11th at 2pm  to talk about the new book; tune into WMSE today at 3:30pm for an interview with Densmore on Terry Havel’s program before the signing this Sunday.
