Linky McLinkster: The Week, The Weekend and WMSE

harley

This weekend, Milwaukee will be a-hum with cruising motorcycles of the Harley Davidson variety. It’s the bikes’ 110th anniversary, and already, droves of shiny bikes and their bikers are in the thick of the city. Click the above image to go straight to the source of all the celebrating, and don’t forget that along with all these bikes, there are also some pretty hefty national and local musical acts to catch, too: Common, The Whigs, JD McPherson, ZZ Top and Semi-Twang are a few you can catch between now and Saturday…

If you’re hunkering down here in Milwaukee for the weekend and want to revel, but not in the key of Harley Davidson, there’s still plenty to see and do: The Violet Hour, Resist Her Transistor + Heartthrob will be at Riverwest Public House tonight and Go Go Slow (ex-Die Kreuzen + F***face) + the Dim Suns (ex-Compound Red) will be at Cactus. Kane Place Record Club with the Wax Addicts at Linneman’s on Saturday, as well as Jaill + Rose Windows (both on Sub Pop Records) and Old Earth at Cactus Club. Sunday brings the smooth sounds of Def Harmonic and Kid Millions and the Sounds of Time to Cactus (who have a killer musical lineup this weekend, don’t they?);  just a couple options for those with a three-day weekend to burn. We’ll keep it short and sweet so you can hop to it…enjoy your Labor Day weekend, WMSE listeners!
