A Trip to Bandcamp With : Like Like The The The Death

lltttd_cavejenny

The style of rock that locals Like Like The The The Death play is a hearkening back to the glory days of Touch & Go Records, Dischord and Saddle Creek. And while not many bands, local or otherwise, readily visit this style, the music’s punch and shaky-leg pace is a bit of a palate cleanser to a lot of the layered and artfully subtle music out at the moment and similar to the nice change of using one’s “outdoor voice” after using that “indoor voice” for so long. Comprised of Dan Hanke (drums), Michael Marchant (guitar), Kyle Scheuer (bass, vocals) and Anthony Weber (vocals, guitar), the quartet features veteran musicians who can back their chops while having a little fun.

Those squalling songs paired with crass lyrics (look no further than song titles like “Here Comes Irregular”, “Night Of a Hundred Hondos”, etc..), are a hallmark of LLTTTD’s equally squalling live performance, and their forthcoming debut, Cave Jenny (on Latest Flame Records) is both entertaining and nerve-firing, to say the very least. The album packs the same smarts (of both varieties) and has been tearing up the WMSE charts in recent weeks.

Find a copy of the album over at Bandcamp (click the cover image above) or at the release show tomorrow, Friday, October 11th, at the Cactus Club. LLTTTD plays with Body Futures and Nonagon. 21+
